PVC Material Suppliers
PVC Material is one of the most commonly used materials in industry. It’s versatility ranges from being hard and brittle to soft and malleable. Learn more about this material here.
What Is PVC Material?
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) material is one of the most commonly used materials in a number of industries. It is a naturally off-white colour unless certain pigments are added to give colour to the pellets in the process of being crafted to fit various uses. Most commonly found within the construction industry, this material is used for various purposes and industries (even the healthcare industry!). Gumboots, profiles, tubing and cling film are just some of the common items that PVC material is used to create.
How PVC Material Is Transformed
At IPC our injection and extrusion compounds (flexible or rigid) are made for the specific process of injection moulding and profile extrusion.
- Injection Moulding is used to create any shape or form by the process of melting down PVC pellets. In this process our PVC material is put into a heating barrel until the material is heated. Thereafter, it is injected into a mould where it cools and hardens into the moulds shape.
- Profile extrusion is the process whereby the material is used to create a variety of configurations that can either be solid or hollow forms. This is done using an extruder. This extruder forces the material through two dies, the last set being done in a cooling tank until the shape is fully set.
What Products Can PVC Material Be Made Into?
The PVC material we use is made out of polyvinyl chloride – which means that it is plastic, containing hydrogen, chlorine and carbon. The PVC compounds we supply are melted down and put into moulds and extruders by our customers, for all kinds of PVC products, a few being:
- Shoes, slippers and military boots – Using our flexible PVC injection compound, this material can be moulded into a variety of footwear. This is a highly cost-effective way to create strong, long-lasting footwear.
- Automotive industry products – Our PVC material goes through a process called extrusion which turns it into a flexible extruded product by our customers. These products made from our compounds have an aesthetically pleasing finish which allow it to be used in the automotive industry in certain areas of a vehicle such as sunroof and door trimmings and seals.
- Electrical fittings – The raw materials supplied to us, both locally and internationally, are of top-notch quality and help us to manufacture high quality compounds which can withstand harsh conditions. Therefore, it is well suited for various products used in the industrial market such as electrical or pipe fittings and irrigation components.
- Bottles and Cling Film– Our food grade PVC compounds can also be used to manufacture food contact items such as bottles and cling film or cling wrap. This material when produced into these products have no harmful chemicals that can be transferred to the consumer. We ensure that we are REACH, RoHS and SAVA compliant.
If you’re in the market for competitively priced, strong PVC materials, IPC (Innovative PVC Compounds) are the ones to call.
