Here at IPC, we manufacture all manner of PVC compounds. Whether you’re looking for a semi-rigid injection compound, a rigid extrusion compound, a flexible injection compound, or something else, we can make it happen.
However, our point of pride is not simply that we can make whatever you need, but rather that we do so in the most sustainable way possible. Here are a few actions that we have committed to that will help us become a more sustainable PVC supplier.
Lead-Free Stabilisers
Lead stabilisers can have harmful effects on human health and the environment because they are toxic. That’s why we have chosen to eliminate lead from our products and only use lead-free stabilisers to ensure our customers and the environment remain unharmed. This reduces any risk of lead contamination and creates safer products for all.
Low-Molecular-Weight Phthalate Plasticisers
Traditional phthalates are known to be endocrine disruptors and are linked to a variety of health problems, ranging from reproductive issues to developmental disorders.
This is why we use low-molecular-weight phthalate plasticisers, as this significantly reduces any potential health risks. It’s much less volatile and less likely to leach out of PVC products into the environment, making it safer for humans and the environment.
Cadmium-Free Stabilisers and Additives
Cadmium is a useful heavy metal, but it is toxic and can pose risks to human health and the environment. It can cause kidney damage and have other carcinogenic effects. For this reason, we don’t include cadmium in our stabilisers and additives.
Not only does this protect people, but it also reduces the impact that our products have on the environment, as it limits the amount of harmful chemicals that can be leached.
Hexavalent Chromium-Free Additives and Pigments
Hexavalent chromium has been known in the past to cause severe environmental contamination. It is carcinogenic and extremely harmful to both people and the environment, which is why we choose to use additives and pigments that are hexavalent chromium-free.
Doing so minimises the toxic impact of these products and our operations on the environment, while also reducing the risk to our workers and the public.
Bisphenol A-Free Products
Bisphenol A is very much like phthalates, having endocrine disruptor associations and causing potential health issues in people, ranging from hormonal imbalances to reproductive harm.
Therefore, we eliminate bisphenol A from our products to ensure that these effects aren’t passed on to our customers or the environment.
Mercury-Free Products
Mercury is highly toxic, with leaks potentially causing severe environmental and health risks. By eliminating mercury from our products, we eliminate the risk of neurological damage and bioaccumulation in the food chain, thereby ensuring a more sustainable PVC manufacturing operation.
We eliminate mercury to reduce the risk of contamination and ensure a cleaner and safer environment for all.
South African Vinyls Association (SAVA) Membership
We are members of SAVA, an industry body that helps ensure members are committed to sustainable practices and industry standards surrounding environmental protection, recycling, and responsible waste collection.
Through the responsible use of vinyl products, SAVA promotes a safer and more sustainable plastics industry. Our membership in SAVA demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and ensures that we remain at the forefront of sustainability trends.
Whatever your PVC manufacturing needs are, from flexible to rigid to semi-rigid injection compounds or extrusion compounds, we will meet them sustainably. Contact us now to find out more.
